Lately, I find constructing “fleshed-out” opinions of songs to be a struggle, and that struggle isn’t helped by pedestrian rock songs like these. The kinds of songs where the effort is there and the track isn’t shitty by any means, but the flow and structure of it all have become so commonplace that it’s almost nauseating to listen to such tracks. That said, I think this latest Wolf Alice is not bad, but I’d be dishonest in saying that I’m “impressed” by it.
Surely, this could just be a case of my “music tastes” not aligning with their style of music, as I’ve heard many positive comments about this track—so much so that I decided to dedicate a full review to it. If you like early-evening dive-bar rock music, you’re in for a delight with this one. I’m sure this would be a crowd-pleaser in the Wolf Alice fan club as well. For me, however, it’s just a tame rock snog.
