What happens when four prominent artists sitting at the shore connecting the indie scene to mainstream, team up on a single? “Mind Loaded” is the result. The track opens is neatly reverbed harmonies from Blood Orange. Then comes Caroline with her signature vocal glides on the second chorus, at which point, the song’s already made an impression, and you’re already curious about how it spends the remainder of its time. Not to worry, Lorde and Mustafa chime in with their vocals briefly before a subtle dance beat kicks to cue the outro. It sounds so simple yet so effective.
I like this song; however, I’m not quick to recommend giving it a listen to just anyone. Now, this is already December, so a lot of you who happen to be fans of any of the artists that contributed to the song might’ve already heard it, but for those of you who haven’t, I’d imagine some of the subtleties that make the track as infectious as it is might slip past your ears, and that’s understandable. Regardless, I do recommend giving it a shot.
