Dijon’s “Yamaha” is a delightfully amorous standout from Baby.

Dijon released Baby in August this year. From an album packed with great moments, it’s hard to pick a handful of standouts. “Yamaha,” however, is one of the tracks that rises to the occasion.

“Baby, I’m in love with this particular emotion!” Vocals, vocals, vocals! Great singing, great harmonies, great vocal production overall. I love how the vocals let loose around the track’s end. Writing-wise, it does feel a pinch repetitive, but the verses, though brief, are charming enough to prevent the song from being a complete throwaway in that regard. Then the instrumental calls heavily from late-80s R&B but with an industrial, modern finish to it.

“Yamaha” is a great track. The track’s weight is felt more on the album, though, but it still works as a standalone listening experience.
