A quietly restorative standout, bruxa do mangue’s o nascer do sol uses a consistent palette of instruments to create an airy, tranquil experience that never feels redundant or self-conscious.
o nascer do sol (the sunrise) is an album by Brazilian artist bruxa do mangue. It was released in August 2025.
I remember listening to this for the first time a couple of weeks ago, and I just knew that I had to give this a shoutout once I got the chance. This opening track features some of the most tranquil guitar work you might’ve ever heard. The other instruments pop in at will, but the bedrock of this modest beauty, to me, is the guitar. Regarding the small bit of vocals we get, they are a bit quiet in the mix, but the instrumentation does more than enough to hold the weight of the track, effectively turning the bit of vocals we do get into an instrumental somehow. It’s all just an inexplicable stream of tranquility, really.
“longa tempestade” follows the vibe of “nightingale” carefully, maintaining the tranquil ambience. At this point, the inaudibility of the vocals becomes an attraction in their own light, especially considering the way they don’t distract from the instrumentals at all.
The album’s title track is its first full instrumental track. Its five-minute runtime leaves no room for disappointment with each moment breathing slightly with new instrumental elements to keep your ears engaged and you mind well at ease.
Great track overall. The peace persists.
The guitar and drums keep our ears occupied for the most part on “bela moça.” The true delight comes from the ambient textures that occasionally meander their way through the track. Even though this track is more upbeat than the bulk of what we’ve been offered so far, it still maintains the album’s overall tranquil atmosphere perfectly without making it feel worn out in any way.
With “beloved,” we have a soft-rock, easy outro to bring the project to a calm close.
For fans of whatever “easy listening” means nowadays, I definitely recommend giving this a listen. It is a great mind detox that doesn’t announce itself as such. Despite the same instruments being employed across all the tracks, nothing feels redundant or of no use. Everything works in tandem to solidify the project while continually maintaining an airy and tranquil atmosphere. It’s an easy standout this year.
