Beneath this track's comical, talk-shit lyrics lies a modestly catchy tune.
“Sability” is a single by Nigerian popstar Ayra Starr. It was released in early February of 2023.
Ayra Starr opens up the track with greetings to whoever and delves into full-on randomness thereafter from addressing “rumors” of her being a “Cele” church member to shouting out Shinji Kagawa of all people. London's production seems to be doing the heavy lifting on the track but it's admirable the way Ayra's apathetic sass carries the listener through an actual case of lyrics salad. That extra, more “dramatic” chorus at the end—that even included a string session for whatever—was completely unnecessary though; a miscalculated production choice that almost ruins the entire song in my view.
It's overall a fun track, I suppose. There isn't a shred of seriousness on it and it's amusing how well they conveyed that vibe effectively right from the get-go. It also helps that it's only a few seconds shy of a three-minute runtime making it easily digestible for the average listener as it doesn't overstay its welcome much. Big issue with that extra verse at the end though. Other than that. “Sability” is fine for what it sets out to be. Good job to Ayra and all involved.
