Moon Blue

2026

Factory Flaws

Frank Ude |

Moon Blue’s Disco Aurora conceals a handful of potential summer anthems beneath a collection of less compelling tracks.

Fun fact: Moon Blue’s The Moonlight Disco was one of the first projects we reviewed on this site. That was back in 2023. He’s back now with a new extended play, Disco Aurora. Let’s see what he’s got this time.

For context, the review you’re about to read/scroll through was written after one listen. Don’t be surprised if we speak of it inversely later in the year.

This isn’t exactly an exciting opener, but for an extended play, it works well enough. It does sound a bit cliché and cut from the wrong edges of the Tame Impala-style disco cloth.

I like the way he sings the “never once” on the chorus. Other than that, unfortunately, there isn’t anything here that I haven’t exactly heard in some form many times before. Now, don’t get me wrong, that’s not necessarily a “bad” thing, but I would appreciate a dash of lemon in my chamomile once in a while, if you get what I mean. So this track is, at a glance, practically “faultless” in terms of the effort going into it—especially considering he appears not to be a native English speaker writing lyrics in English—but we’re not being treated to much “creativity” here either.

Yeah, average-tier synth-pop again, unfortunately. This track does overdo it a bit with the synth trails, but it’s nothing criminal. Did I mention he’s got a stable singing voice, though?

This one sounds a lot like it could grow into a summer hit. Throw this onto the soundtrack of a popular-enough TV series, and that might end up being the case.

This is fine, but it’s not very different from what we’ve heard so far.

I see we got a last-minute boost in quality. Still, we’re getting synth-disco-pop energy again, but this time the performance brings with it a micro hint of intrigue with it. I wish the energy on the verses was matched on the choruses, but it’s fine.

Overall, for a dedicated listen, I wouldn’t recommend giving this EP a listen. However, if you’re making a party playlist and you don’t want people spending the night naming songs and ragging on artists, I’d say you could risk adding either track 2 or 6 to the playlist.

Kudos to Moon Blue.
